Kent Institute Australia welcomes Bachelor Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma and Certificate applications from school leavers and mature aged students, from Australia and overseas.
In accordance with Kent’s vision, all the courses are accessible to everyone regardless of gender, race, religion or disability.

Admission Criteria (Vocational Education and Training Courses)

 

Academic Requirements

All applicants must:

  • Have a formal qualification considered equivalent to an Australian Year 12
  • Be a minimum 18 years of age prior to course commencement

Please note: Some courses and units have additional pre-requisites for entry, which are detailed in the course outline.

English Language Proficiency

IELTS (Academic) 5.5 overall score with no band less than 5.0 or equivalent.

Admission Criteria (Higher Education Courses)

 

Applicants with Higher Education Study

Applicants who have undertaken any higher education study, within the last ten years since leaving school, may be eligible for admission to a Kent course with credit transfers (advanced standing). For more information on this process, see Course Credit/Recognition of Prior Learning.

Applicants with Vocational Education and Training (VET) Study

Applicants who have undertaken any VET study within the last ten years since leaving school may be eligible for admission to a Kent course with credit transfers (advanced standing). For more information on this process, see Course Credit/Recognition of Prior Learning.

 

Kent has approved articulation agreements in place for certain VET courses which specify the number of course credits you may be entitled to. (View our Articulation Agreements Register for the complete list).

Applicants with Recent Secondary Education (within the past two years)

Australian Year 12 Students
Kent will admit students who have an Australian Certificate of Education, successful completion of Year 12 (Sound or Satisfactory achievement in all subjects, UAI 54.1 or ATAR 58.00).

 

Interstate Year 12
For students who have completed their year 12 in Queensland, Kent recognises an OP score of 17 for admission.

Mature Age Students

Applicants with Work and Life Experience
Kent understands that preparation for study is not restricted to formal educational attainment and that valuable intellectual and skills development can be gained through wide ranging experiences. Kent will review applications on a case-by-case basis from persons of at least 21 years of age, who do not have formal qualifications for entry but who seek admission to courses on the basis of their educational and skills development through experience and informal study.

Additional Information

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People
Kent offers an Indigenous Access Scholarship, designed to provide opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to support their personal and academic success and to provide access to students who might otherwise struggle to meet the cost of studies. Each Scholarship application is assessed on a case-by-case basis, and all successful applicants will be notified in writing.

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status as defined in item 1.0; and
  • Meet the entry requirements of Kent Institute Australia; and
  • Submit a written statement of no less than 500 words with the Application for Admission detailing why they believe they deserve a scholarship. Applicants will also be required to attend a short interview to confirm course suitability (mutually agreed to be conducted by telephone or face to face).

Applicants with Overseas Qualifications
All applicants must:

  • Have a formal qualification considered equivalent to an Australian Year 12
  • Be a minimum 18 years of age prior to course commencement

English Language Proficiency

Applicants who have not completed an Australian Certificate of Education (Year 12) within the past two years must also meet the following English language requirements before enrolling with Kent:

  • IELTS (Academic) 6.0 overall score with no band less than 5.5 or equivalent.
