Government Job Outlook projections show employment rising to November 2026 across seven of eight major occupational groups, with professional roles growing strongly and managers at around the average—signaling sustained demand for high-skill ICT capability. Australia’s tech workforce surpassed one million in 2024 and is forecast to require approximately 1.3 million workers, indicating persistent gaps across software, data, artificial intelligence and cyber security. National skills reports point to accelerating demand in artificial intelligence and advanced analytics through 2030, while Jobs and Skills Australia identifies Computer Network Professionals and Telecommunications Network Engineers as core roles underpinning cloud, 5G/Internet of Things and secure connectivity—priority areas in projections to 2034. Cyber security depth remains tight: approximately 51,300 people are in dedicated cyber roles and approximately 11,387 in highly specialised technical roles.
KENT’s Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) is an AQF Level 7–aligned program with five pathways: BIT (without Specialisation) and specialisations in Cyber Security, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Networking & Communication. The curriculum covers software development, systems analysis, databases, cloud and networked systems, and secure engineering, with work-integrated learning through applied labs, client-style briefs and a capstone project using contemporary toolchains. Delivery by academically qualified staff (PhD/Masters) with industry experience and active professional networks ensures disciplinary currency and strong external engagement.
KENT’s Bachelor of Information Technology is a 3-year, 144-credit-point program comprising 22 units (6 credit-points each) plus a 12-credit-point Capstone Project. All awards require 16 core units (96 credit-points) + Capstone (12 credit-points) + 6 additional units (36 credit-points). The additional units are electives for the BIT (without Specialisation) or prescribed specialisation units for the BIT in Cyber Security, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Networking & Communication. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may reduce required credit in line with Kent’s Course Credit and Articulation Policy and Procedures.
Sydney and Melbourne Campus delivery of the Bachelor of Information Technology (without Specialisation) and Bachelor of Information Technology with a Specialisation in Cyber Security course options are accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
