The Role
Kent is currently seeking an outstanding Higher Education Course Coordinator on a Full-time basis for the Bachelor of Business (BBus).
Course Coordination requires leadership to implement and review an award course to ensure its quality and financial viability. A Course Coordinator is required for each course offered by Kent for academic administrative purposes where deemed appropriate. This role is responsible for the supervision of teaching staff, co-ordination of the design, development, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of the course offered by Kent and is also responsible for the coordination of student administration and resources associated with the course.
Key tasks
- In conjunction with the Associate Dean (Business and Accounting) provide academic leadership for Bachelor of Business course and support the planning, resourcing, development, implementation, delivery ongoing review and delivery of the course.
- Undertake course development, curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation under the guidance of the Associate Dean (Business and Accounting).
- Support and enact the implementation of activities related to Kent’s Teaching & Learning Plan.
- Promote and support innovative and effective teaching and learning practices in delivery of the course.
- Create a teaching and learning environment which supports student progress and achievement.
- Provide input to the Associate Dean (Business and Accounting). regarding staffing and resourcing requirements for the course.
- Manage course quality and continuous improvement processes and provide progress reports regularly to the Associate Dean (Business and Accounting).
- Maintain records of outcomes or analysis reports as a consequence of changes implemented to course structure in accordance with the course approvals process to close the loop on reports of any course changes meeting expected aims and objectives for implementing the change.
- Provide input to the Associate Dean on unit offerings for a particular study period and within the course and any recommendations for Unit reviews.
- Liaise with the Associate Deans, other Course Co-ordinators and Higher Education Administrators to develop the timetable for each Trimester.
- Monitor and analyse overall course performance including pass rates, supplementary and deferred assessment rates, and failure rates and provide upward reporting to Academic Unit management.
- Liaise with relevant professional, industry and community bodies to promote the work of Kent upon request from the Associate or Executive Deans.
- Co-ordinate relevant academic and administrative matters connected with the Course as required by the Associate Dean (Business and Accounting).
- Undertake the co-ordination and lecturing on a minimum of (1) Unit for each Trimester.
- Contribute to Kent governance, management, academic administration or regular academic staff meetings as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- AQF Level 10 qualification in the Business filed
- Expertise relevant to specific disciplines offered within Kent’s Bachelor of Business.
- Documented evidence of provision of a significant degree of leadership in activities relevant to
- Business professions, disciplines and/or community
- A minimum of three (3) years of Unit Coordination, lecturing and/or tutoring in the tertiary
- education sector
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and review in the higher education sector.
Skills
- Experience delivering higher education courses to diverse student cohorts including students from
- non-English speaking backgrounds.
- Demonstrated excellence in tertiary education curriculum design, development, delivery and
- assessment
- Proven experience in coordinating and monitoring a course of study or at least 3 years’ experience
- Unit Coordination, lecturing delivery within a higher education environment with a demonstrated
- commitment to providing outstanding client service; including development of professional
- interpersonal relationships and teamwork approach to tasks
- Experience providing constructive and timely feedback to students and management on learning and
- assessment issues
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Experience working with diverse teams and ad stakeholders
