Have you ever asked yourself what is it really that you love doing? Would you be willing to do it for free?
They say ‘do what you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”. As good as it sounds, turning your passion into career needs a little preparation and a lot of hard work.
First, figure out what you want to do.
Do you want to set up your own business? Taking a Business courses will increase your chance of success. Are you keen on developing programs that make life easier? You can consider Information Technology courses. Do your research and determine whether you need a formal qualification or degree and additional skills and specialised knowledge you need to obtain in order to achieve your goal.

Recognise your skills and preferences
Ask yourself: What skills do I need to stand out in my chosen career?
Choosing a field that you are more likely to excel in is the best option, and having competitors will not be a big issue as long as you have developed the right skills, and you are confident with your knowledge.
There will always be a path to get you where you want to be, and you just have to take it. There are many career choices and opportunities these days, however being well informed can lead you to the right path.
Listing the pros and cons is never a bad idea.
Now that you know what you want, you have to list down the things that you have to consider.
Education is not always costly, as there are affordable study options available with Kent Institute Australia’s range of Scholarships and Bursaries which can make it easier for you.
Remember that it will not matter how much you want something unless you actually do something about it.
This is where you make a plan based on your list. A detailed plan of the steps you will need to take to get to do what you love. This will include how much you need to spend, what you need to do and how do you plan on doing it.
Having a back-up plan, if the first plan doesn’t work out, is also a good idea.
When the plan is all laid out and you think you’re ready, work hard and get it!
Even with preparation, things will not always go smoothly. You might have to take on extra tasks and sometimes it will get tough. This is why it is important to surround yourself with supportive people who you can consult and receive support and assistance in pursuing your career.
This is where Wellbeing Support and Academic Support Services plays an important role in a student’s life.
The Kent Career Services is also available for Kent students to set career goals, explore career possibilities and find useful tips on starting a new job.
Steve Jobs once said: “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.”
