Kent students win at Intercultural Sports Day 2019
Kent is proud to participate again this year at the Intercultural Sports Day. This fun event was held on the 12th of April 2019 and was a joined initiative of City of Sydney Youth Week, International Education Association, Inc. (ISANA) and KGV Recreation Centre.
The futsal competition’s 2nd and 3rd placers were Kent’s own team of students. They are composed of Nischal KUMAR, Suman OLI, Anish LUITEL, Niroj LAMA, and Aayush RIJAL.
According to ISANA, “the competitions and games allow students to develop networks and friendships through sports and activities. Building connectivity through sport encourages an active lifestyle, strengthens culturally diverse youth community networks and contributes to developing harmonious socioeconomic and multicultural communities. Young people from diverse backgrounds and cultures can realise a sense of commonality through playing sports together.”
This was affirmed by Kent student Nischal KUMAR as he said the following: “My experience in participating and joining the Intercultural Sports Day provided me not only the joy of winning the futsal game for the 2nd time but also the great experience of immersing myself to a wider community of international students, gain sportsmanship, and help promote cultural diversity through friendly sports competition.”
A big congratulations to our students for making Kent proud and to the organisers for providing an opportunity for our international students to connect via sports.
