The Academic Board of Kent Institute Australia is a sub-committee of the Kent Governing Board and is established in accordance with Kent’s Constitution. The Academic Board is the principal academic advisory and academic decision-making body for all Kent’s activities, courses and programs. Australia’s regulatory standards inform the Board’s roles and responsibilities to ensure that academic requirements are maintained, quality assurance frameworks are followed and academic policy is progressively developed, implemented and reviewed.
The Academic Board Charter establishes the Governing Board’s expectations for its membership structure, and roles and responsibilities. The Charter also provides Terms of Reference for the Academic Board sub-committees. Currently, these sub-committees are the Teaching and Learning Committee and Industry Advisory Committee.
From time to time, the Academic Board may establish other sub-committees as approved by Governing Board to make recommendations to the Academic Board in relation to any matters within the scope and responsibility of the Board.
Academic Board currently has a Course Development Working Party which was established to support course development processes (approved by Governing Board) under the auspices of the Kent Strategic Plan.
The membership of any established Academic Board sub-committee includes discipline specific academic staff, industry employers, academic peers and recent Kent graduates to assist in ensuring Kent courses are monitored, current and industry relevant.
